For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved creating art that tells stories. In college, I took classes in art history, graphic design, and photography, and spent a formative semester in London studying European art and theater. While I enjoyed living life creatively, I wasn’t sure I could make a living out of it.

After graduating, I moved from Wisconsin to Washington D.C. where I pursued a career as a legislative staffer on Capitol Hill. I enjoyed being a part of history as it happened and the adventure of it all for several years, but I wasn’t cut out for a life of conflict.

I knew I needed to make a change, so I left Washington to attend grad school back in the Midwest, where I met the man who is now my husband. He is the one who encouraged me, and encourages me every day, to follow my heart when it comes to my work.

I’ve always loved photography, but it was our wedding photos that inspired me to pursue photography as a career. I love that our wedding photos have the ability to take me right back to the day and all of the emotions and love in it. Photos are so powerful in that way, and I believe in their ability to bring people and families closer together. Photos are a gift and they are a gift I want to give to others.
