CHICAGO PHOTO LOCATIONS
Olive Park: Lovely skyline views, works any time of day but can work well even in bright sun because there are trees for shade. Highly recommend if you want skyline shots in the middle of the day! Easy and peaceful place to do big groups and even family photos because there is lots of room.
Wrigley Building/ Riverfront: Can work anytime of day but best closer to sunset or on a cloudy day.
Art Institute of Chicago: Great place to get skyline shots and I haven’t shot there yet but the Art Institute Gardens are open May-ish to October-ish and are beautiful to shoot in. They also allow shooting inside the museum - just have to buy an entry ticket.
North Ave Beach: We usually get dropped off at Castaways Bar and then walk to the skyline area. Works best closer to sunset or on a cloudy day.
A rooftop: Always nice to enjoy that beautiful city skyline! This is the Ambassador Hotel (formerly Public) rooftop.
Union Station: Can work anytime of day, but can also work well if its raining or a bright mid-day!
West Loop: Great neighborhood for foodies! You can visit your favorite restaurants and make it a date night. Connie and Rick (above) actually live in the neighborhood too!
Michigan Ave area: Great place to get urban shots and the architecture of the city in. We can usually make it work in any kind of light by using the shadows of the building, as long as you’re flexible with exact placement of the shots.
Your neighborhood: Many Chicago neighborhoods have lovely architecture and trees, and it can make the photos more personal to your love story. Also a nice opportunity to capture a few photos of you with your pets because you can drop them back at home before continuing on with your session!
Where you had your first date/ first kiss: especially if it has a cute exterior / and or neighborhood! Its special and romantic to re-live this places.
An Airbnb: if its winter and you want a place with great light and some privacy renting an Airbnb can be a great option - and then you could have a little staycation after your shoot! Floor to ceiling windows and lots of white, and blank spaces make for the best light for photography.
Garfield Park Conservatory: Works great in the middle of winter as the light is MAGNIFICENT (floor to ceiling 😉 ) and its warm. Works any time of day.
